TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SHIPPING PACKAGES

1. Address as printed on shipping label by MAILBOXES of IOWA CITY is correct

2. Any item received for packing and or shipping may be opened for inspection. Refusal of inspection by customer may result in refusal to insure or ship by the store.

3. Unless another value is declared, in writing, in advance of shipment, each parcel shall be deemed to have a maximum value of $100.00 if carried by UPS, DHL, or FedEx and NO value if carried by USPS or any freight company.

4. Articles of a hazardous nature and those prohibited by the carrier or any governmental body shall not be accepted.  Customer accepts full responsibility for lack of disclosure of any hazardous or illegal materials being shipped.  Customer must acknowledge if their package contains anything liquid, fragile, perishable, or potentially hazardous.

5. Customer accepts full responsibility for damage to any article packed by the customer. All carriers have very specific rules limiting the payment of claims to their own definition of “proper packing”. We strongly urge you to allow us to pack for you. Customer is responsible for determining proper specifications prior to packaging.

6. In no event shall Mailboxes of Iowa City be liable for any consequential, incidental or special damages which may arise from loss, damage, non delivery or delayed delivery. This limitation shall apply to, but not limited to, damages for loss of profit or income.

7. Customer warrants that the address provided is complete and accurate, and agrees to hold the store harmless for packages that are lost or delivered incorrectly because of an inaccurate address. If carrier is required to correct the address or deliver to another address, customer agrees to pay reasonable fees associated with this additional service.

8. Customer is responsible for furnishing adequate information to permit this store and the carrier to investigate claims for loss or damage. Such information shall include recipient’s name, address, telephone number, date of shipment, parcel contents & description, value, and package ID number if any.

9. In the event of parcel damage, this store will process a claim if all of the following steps are taken by either the customer or the recipient: A. Notification of damage on the carrier’s delivery document. B. Retention of all cartons and packing materials. C. Notification to this store within forty eight (48) hours of receipt. D. Cooperation with this store’s instructions for processing the claim, including Digital Photos of damage and packing material.

10. In the event of loss or damage of any article, this store’s liability shall be limited to the lesser of (a) the actual cash value of the article or (b) the amount necessary to repair or replace the article, or (c) the amount declared by the customer in writing, at the time of shipment. A. In order to establish actual cash value in the event of damage or loss, customer is responsible for furnishing this store with an original invoice, receipt or appraisal which is not more than one year old. The amount declared by customer at the time of shipment is not an acceptable proof of value.

11. In the event of damage or non-delivery, customer shall make a claim to this store, in writing, within (15) days of the date of shipment or all claims will be considered waived.

12. Customer agrees that once a claim for loss or damage has been paid, customer waives all rights to file further claims on that particular shipment.

13. In the case of items shipped via the United States Postal Service, customer is fully aware that claims or tracing is impossible without the purchase of additional services at the time of shipment.

14. Customer agrees that they are ultimately responsible for unforeseen fees, duties and taxes on any international shipment.

15. Non Postal Service Surcharges may apply to USPS Products and Services.

16. Terms and conditions of Mailboxes of Iowa City are subject to change without notice.

SHIPPER'S STATEMENT & LIABILITY RELEASE

 

 I certify that Mailboxes of Iowa City has provided me, and that I have read, a list of items/substances that are not considered to be potentially Hazardous, Illegal, Prohibited, Dangerous or Restricted (HIPDR).  I warrant that the packages and/or parcels that I have tendered for shipment are free of such goods, or any other goods which may be considered as HIPDR, or are packed appropriately for shipping as defined and required by the Common Carrier assigned the shipment.

 

I fully, without reservation or condition, agree to absolve and hold harmless and indemify Mailboxes of Iowa City from all injuries and/or damages resulting in any way from the handling, storage and transportation of this shipment.  I further agree to reimburse Retailer for any and all costs, fees, or expenses in defense of any claim or judgements that may arise as a result of criminal or civil prosecution related to this shipment.

 

I agree that all terms and conditions of this statement apply equally to all shipments identified in this transaction.

 

Mailboxes of Iowa City reserves the right to refuse any shipment.
