Question 1: Can I ship a bottle of wine?
Mailboxes of Iowa City is unable to ship any alcoholic beverage through any carrier we are authorized by. It is also not allowed to ship other items in used boxes that have any alcohol markings on them. The carriers assume that what is marked on the exterior of the box is what is in the box.
Question 2: Can I ship a firearm?
Mailboxes of Iowa City does not ship firearms of any kind. Please contact the carriers directly.
Question 3: Do I need dry ice to ship a perishable item overnight?
Not necessarily. Mailboxes of Iowa City uses frozen cooler packs in their own custom sized coolers which may not require the use of dry ice.
Question 4: Can I insure my painting, art, antique or unusual item?
Yes, if you have a recent appraisal or reciept of sale. If not the only thing insurable with a painting for example would be the canvas, frame and paint. The carriers are very stringent on their rules regarding claims. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO PROVE VALUE.
Question 5: Can I send money through the carriers?
No, the carriers prohibit the shipping of cash and will not insure or be held accountable for it.
Question 6: Can I insure a check, tickets, stock certificates, etc.?
No, documents are not insurable.
Questions 7: Can I ship perfume internationally or through an air service? No, perfume is considered dangerous goods and is not allowed to be shipped by private individuals through any air service. You may ship perfume through ground services.
