Mailboxes of Iowa City is authorized to ship with UPS, FedEx, DHL and the United States Postal Service.  Listed below are the services that are offered through these carriers at Mailboxes of Iowa City.

 UPS

UPS BASIC INFORMATION

  • UPS will deliver to a street address only.  They cannot deliver to a Post Office Box.
  • UPS will automatically insure each package for the first $100.00.  If you wish to insure your package for more there are additional charges.  UPS has specific packaging requirements for shipping through them.  They may not pay a claim if they deem your package to not have proper packaging.  UPS has specific items that can and cannot be insured.  Please refer to the UPS tariff* for specific details or call Mailboxes of Iowa City for information regarding proper packaging of your specific shipment and whether or not your item is insurable.
  • All packages shipped through UPS are assigned a tracking number that allows you to follow your shipment until it reaches it's destination. 
  • UPS has size and weight restrictions on packages.  Many packages are shipped at a dimensional weight due to there size.  For example a 20 x 20 x 20 box will ship at a minimum of 48 pounds even it actually weighs less.  Please check our box inventory in online ordering for specific boxes dimensional weights or call Mailboxes of Iowa City and we can help you ship your packages in the most economical way.
  • Mailboxes of Iowa City cannot ship alcohol, tobacco or firearms through UPS.  Mailboxes of Iowa City cannot ship any hazardous materials or ORM-D through UPS.  Falsifying contents with Mailboxes of Iowa City is a crime and we will cooperate with law enforcement to the fullest extent of the law.

  • Next Day Air Early AM (guaranteed*) This service is delivered by 8:00 am depending on the zip code.  Service is available on week days only.
  • Next Day Air AM (guaranteed*) This service is delivered by 10:30 am depending on the zip code.  There is an extra charge for Saturday delivery and this service is not available on Sunday.
  • Next Day Air PM (guaranteed*) This service is delivered by 3:00 pm depending on the zip code.  There is an extra charge for Saturday delivery and this service is not available on Sunday.
  • Two Day Air (guaranteed*) This service is delivered in two business days not including weekends.
  • Three Day Ground (guaranteed*) This service is delivered in three business days not including weekends.
  • Ground - This service is delivered in 1 to 5 business days depending on the destination.
  • International Express - This service is estimated to be 48 to 72 hours.  Transit times can vary depending on customs and destination country.
  • International Expedited - This service is estimated to be 3 to 5 days.  Transit times can vary depending on customs and destination country.

Fed Ex

FEDEX BASIC INFORMATION

  • International Economy - This service is estimated to be 3 to 5 days.  Transit times can very depending on customs and desitination country.

USPS (United States Postal Service)

USPS BASIC INFORMATION

  • USPS is the only carrier that can deliver to a P.O. Box.
  • Items shipped through the USPS are not insured automatically.  You must request insurance at the time of shipment.
  • Express Mail is the only trackable service through the USPS.  Delivery Confirmation is available on certain services but does not act as true tracking.
  • Estimates for delivery are based on information provided by the USPS.  They are only estimates and can vary widely.  International shipments are subject to customs inspections and are delivered by the country being shipped to.  This can affect delivery time indefinitely.
  • The USPS has size and weight restrictions that apply for domestic and international shipments.  Contact Mailboxes of Iowa City if you are unsure of your packages restrictions.

USPS SERVICES

  • Express Mail - 24 to 48 hour delivery depending on zip code including Saturdays and Holidays.  This service is trackable and insured automatically up to $100.00
  • Priority Mail - This service is estimated to be delivered in 2 to 3 business days.  This service is not guaranteed.  Mailboxes of Iowa City provides delivery confirmation with this service.
  • First Class Mail - This service is available for letters, flats and small parcels.  This is a weight and shape based service that is only available up to 13oz.  The estimated delivery is 3 to 5 days and is not guaranteed.  This service is not trackable or insured.  Insurance, certified and return receipt are available for an extra charge with this service.
  • Parcel Post - This service is surface mail and is mainly used for packages.  The estimated delivery is 2 to 10 days and is not guaranteed.  This service is not trackable or insured.  Delivery confirmation and insurance may be added for an additional charge
  • Media Mail - This is a special rate for media only.  This can consist of books, cd's, dvd's, albums, etc.  The USPS will not accept any package at this rate that has any contents that is not media.  The package will be returned.  Media Mail has no estimated delivery time from the USPS.  This service is not insured or trackable.  Insurance and delivery confirmation are available at an additional charge.
  • First Class International - This service is for letters, flats and small parcels.  The estimated delivery time is 3 to 14 days to arrive at the destination country.  This service is not guaranteed and is not trackable.  There can be delays due to customs inspections and also due to the Postal Service of the country you are mailing to.  Delivery times can vary widely.
  • Priority Mail International - This service is for letters and packages.  The estimated delivery time is 6 to 10 days to arrive at the destination country.  This service is not guaranteed and is not trackable.  There can be delays due to customs inspections and also due to the Postal Service of the country you are mailing to.  Delivery times can vary widely.  Weight and size limits vary by country of destination.
  • Express Mail International - This service is for letters and packages.  The estimated delivery time is 3 to 5 days to arrive at the -destination country.  This service is not guaranteed and is only trackable within the United States.  There can be delays due to customs inspections and also due to the Postal Service of the country you are mailing to.  Delivery times can vary widely.  Weight and size limits vary by country of destination.
  • Certified, Return Receipt, Delivery Confirmation, and Insurance are additional USPS services offered by Mailboxes of Iowa City.
